Surrey and the Province both draw the short-term line at 90 days.
Surrey defines a short-term rental as less than 90 consecutive days for each guest, and only licenses one where the owner lives on the property. The Province uses the same 90-day line and requires a registration number on every short-term listing.
A stay of 90 consecutive days or more is outside those short-term definitions. Other local licensing, building and tenancy requirements may still apply, so confirm the home’s terms before signing.
